First Time Leader
Who is it aimed at?
This programme is designed for people who are about to or have recently entered their first leadership or supervisory position.
Why do I need it?
First time leaders face a different set of challenges when they have more than themselves to think about. Where technical skill or knowledge may have brought success and recognition in the past, leading a group of people has a different set of demands.
What will I get out of it?
You will:
- Understand that your needs and the needs of your team may be very different
- Discover that new status and power aren’t enough to lead others
- Understand that things which seemed simple when dealing only with your own workload can become complex when dealing with others
- Learn how to think about your own values and how they might be different from others and may even be in conflict
- Learn to manage yourself so that you may manage others successfully
What is it about?
- This programme allows plenty of opportunity to explore alternative views on what success means for a leader of a team
- What drives you or is important to you as an individual
- What drives others within teams ( and what doesn’t)
- Why difficult people are difficult and what you can do to help them and yourself
- Survival toolkit: being challenged, stressed and managing your own and others reactions.
Participants will be challenged through role play and delegates use a case study from their own workplace to develop a leadership action plan to support a co-worker.
Who is it for?
- Professional, technical or functional specialists or generalists entering or in a first time leader role
- Graduates or employees identified as having potential to be leaders
What after course support is available?
- Delegates will have access to coaching support to help them when they return to the workplace
Duration
- Two days ( residential or non residential)
Cost
£975 (not including accommodation)
